Lines of Life Project
Collaborator: New Horizons for Seniors Program, Human Resource Development Canada and the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation in partnership with the local Community Centre Associations.
The Lines of Life (2006-07) invited seniors to take part in a photography and writing workshops with the goals to share life experiences expressed in words of wisdom. From April 2006 to February 2007 workshops were held at 11-community centres in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Although, most of the seniors and elders involved were highly skilled in their own right, we worked hard to design and teach compelling workshop curriculum that could help facilitate the production of artwork and the nuances of mounting an exhibition. Each session was 2-hours long and lasted for 6-weeks for seniors 60+ years. Over seventy photographs and stories were shown at the exhibition opening at the Gerry Thorne Hall, Roundhouse Community Centre.
